Label Groups
Group your trial's countries by the label their kits carry, so the forecast packages every lot for the countries it can supply.
A label group is a set of countries that can receive kits printed with the same label — for example a worldwide (WW) label, or a US-only label. In the Label Groups step, the fourth step of the trial wizard, you name each group and choose the countries it covers. The forecast uses these groups to decide how many lots to package and which countries each lot can supply.
Before you begin
Label groups are built from the countries in your trial, so add your countries first in Country and Depots. Until the trial has at least one country, this step shows Countries Required with a Country and Depots button that takes you back to step 1.
Create a label group
A new trial opens this step with one empty label group ready to fill in.
- In Label Group Name, enter a name you will recognize later, such as "WW" or "US only".
- Optionally, add a Description — for example the label's language or regulatory notes.
- Under Countries Assignment, click each country this label covers. A selected country is highlighted with a checkmark; click it again to remove it. Use Select All to add every trial country at once, or Deselect All to clear the selection.
To add another group, click the + button (Add label group) at the end of the tab bar. If the step shows no groups, click Add Your First Label Group.
Group fields
| Field | What it does | Notes/validation |
|---|---|---|
| Label Group Name | Identifies the group on its tab and in later steps, such as custom lot allocation in Production. | Required. Up to 255 characters ("Name cannot exceed 255 characters"). An unnamed group shows as "Label Group 1", "Label Group 2", and so on. |
| Description | Free-text notes about the label. | Optional. Up to 1000 characters ("Description cannot exceed 1000 characters"). |
| Countries Assignment | The countries that can receive kits carrying this label. Lists every country in the trial. | At least one country per group. |
Note: A country can belong to more than one label group — for example, a US/Japan label alongside a worldwide label that also includes those countries.
Manage label groups
Each label group is a tab at the top of the step.
- Switch groups by clicking a tab. Hover a tab to see its full name.
- Reorder groups by dragging a tab. The order is only for this session; it is not saved and has no effect on the forecast.
- Delete a group by clicking the close button on its tab (Delete label group). In the Delete Label Group dialog, confirm with Delete Label Group. Deleting a group removes its country assignments; the countries themselves stay in your trial. This cannot be undone.
A dot on a tab shows its status:
| Dot | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Amber | The group still needs data — a name, at least one country, or both. |
| Red | A value breaks a rule, such as a name longer than 255 characters. |
Reuse label groups across trials
You can save this trial's label groups to Master data and load them into another trial.
- Save labels as template… saves the groups you select (all of them by default) as one template.
- Load labels… applies a saved template. It replaces all existing label groups and country assignments on this trial.
When you load a template, countries are matched by country code. Countries in the template that are not in this trial are skipped, and a group with no matching countries is skipped entirely; a warning tells you how many were skipped.
Continue to the next step
Changes save automatically about 1.5 seconds after you stop editing. A group with no name, description or countries is not saved until you fill one in. Continue stays disabled — and its tooltip tells you what is missing — until all of the following are true:
- The trial has at least one country.
- There is at least one label group.
- Every label group has a name and at least one country.
- Every country in the trial is in at least one label group.
- No name is over 255 characters and no description is over 1000.
If a country is not in any group, a hint above the form names it (for example, "Spain is not in any label group"). Add each country to a label group so its supply can be forecast.
Important: Analytics stays locked while any country is outside every label group. The forecast cannot produce a usable lot for a country no label covers.
How label groups shape the forecast
Each recommended lot carries exactly one label, so demand that needs different labels becomes different recommended lots, each sized against the minimum and maximum lot quantities you set in Production. A recommended lot can supply only the countries in its label group. Custom lots can instead be left unlabeled or split across label groups.
When label groups overlap, the forecast covers each production run's demand with as few label groups as possible: it picks the group that reaches the most countries still needing supply first, and on a tie prefers the narrower group.
Tip: Fewer label groups usually means fewer, larger lots. Split countries into separate groups only where the label genuinely has to differ.
Example setups
| Setup | Label groups | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| One label | WW: every trial country | All countries accept the same label. |
| Regional labels | North America: US, Canada · EU: Germany, France, Spain | Regions need different label text or languages. |
