Prognosis AI
Ask how Prognosis works, or ask about a trial's forecast, supply and setup, and get a short answer in plain words.
Overview
Prognosis AI answers questions in plain words. Ask how Prognosis works, or ask about one trial's forecast, supply, shipments, budget, Actuals and setup. Each answer links to the screens and guides it used, so you can check it in the app.
Prognosis AI is available on paid plans.
Opening the Chat
Click Ask Prognosis in the corner of any workspace page, or press ⌘J (Ctrl J on Windows). Press it again from inside the chat to close it.
- On a trial's or DS/DP network's page, the chat opens on it, unless you picked a trial, a network or General questions yourself in the chat. It decides this only as you open it, and stays put once you start asking. Any general questions you asked are kept under General questions.
- Anywhere else, such as the Trials page, you can type your question straight away.
What You Can Ask
| You ask about | What happens |
|---|---|
| How Prognosis works, what a term means, or where to find something | Answered right away from the documentation, with links to the guides and screens |
| One trial's figures, dates, setup or risk | Answered from that trial's data. If no trial is open, the chat first asks which one |
| All your trials at once | The chat answers about one trial at a time. For portfolio totals it points to the screen that shows them, such as Budget or Depot Shipments |
| A DS/DP network's batches, allocations, stability or QC | Answered in that network's chat |
When the chat asks which trial
Ask "How many kits does STUDY-1 need in May?" with no trial open, and the chat lists your trials under its answer. Any trial you named comes first. Pick one, and the chat opens that trial and asks your question there. Search all trials finds any other trial.
Your earlier questions are kept. Choose General questions at the top of the chat's trial list to go back to them.
Choosing a trial yourself
Pick a trial or DS/DP network from the list at the top of the chat at any time. Picking one starts a new chat on it, and its earlier chats are a click away in History. General questions, at the top of that list, goes back to questions that need no trial, just as you left them. Anything you were typing waits for you in each chat.
Reading an Answer
- Sources under each answer link to the Analytics tabs, setup steps, guides and screens it read.
- An answer about a forecast says which run it read, such as "From the forecast of Oct 7, 2026, 12:03 PM".
- Some answers include a chart drawn from the saved forecast.
- Copy copies an answer. You can also ask the chat to draft an update email.
- The stop button ends an answer early. Retry asks an interrupted question again (the button says Ask again when none of the answer had appeared yet).
Prognosis AI can make mistakes. Check important figures in the app before you act on them.
Keeping the Forecast Current
Answers read the trial's saved forecast, and opening the chat never runs one. The line at the top of a trial's chat shows which forecast that is and whether it is current.
| Button | When it appears | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Refresh forecast | The forecast is out of date, for example after a setup change or on a new day | Runs a new forecast, then shows how the headline figures changed |
| Run forecast | The trial has no forecast yet | Runs the first forecast |
| Finish setup | The setup is not complete enough to run a forecast | Opens the setup step that is missing |
When a newer forecast is ready, the chat offers to ask your last question again.
Comparing With a Scenario
When a trial has linked scenarios, Compare with scenario at the top of its chat picks one. The chat then answers about both, and shows whether each forecast is current. To create a scenario, use Add Scenario on the trial's card on the Trials page. See Scenario Planning.
Chats and History
| Chat | Saved? | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| A trial's or DS/DP network's chat | Yes, under History in that chat | Everyone in your workspace who can open that trial or network |
| General questions | No. They stay until you reload the page or close the tab, and the line under the message box says so | Only you |
New chat starts a fresh conversation. In General questions the same button reads Clear these questions, and cleared questions can't be brought back. History lists earlier chats on the same trial and lets you delete one, several or all of them.
Guide, at the top of a trial's chat, suggests what to ask next, links to the trial's screens, and lets you contact the Prognosis team. Expand to fullscreen gives the chat the whole window, with your chats listed on the left.
What the Chat Does Not Do
- It does not change your trials. It reads them. The forecast buttons above are the only actions it takes.
- It does not predict a what-if. To see how a change plays out, create a scenario and compare it with the trial.
- It does not answer Monte Carlo simulation questions yet.
- It answers about one trial at a time.
